Plagiarism Policy

SETARA: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing all forms of plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unethical use of scholarly work. Every manuscript submitted to the journal must be original, properly cited, and free from any practice that misrepresents the work of others as the author's own.

Originality Requirement

Authors must ensure that the manuscript submitted to SETARA: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum is an original scholarly work and has not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal, conference proceeding, book chapter, repository-based publication, or other publication outlet. Any material taken from previous works, including the author's own publications, must be cited clearly and used only when academically necessary.

Similarity Screening

All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software or other similarity-checking tools before or during the editorial process. The similarity report is used as an editorial aid to identify possible plagiarism, excessive textual overlap, inappropriate paraphrasing, duplicated publication, or uncited use of sources.

Similarity Limit

As a general policy, manuscripts are expected to have a similarity level of no more than 25%, excluding references, legal provisions, court decision citations, standard institutional names, and short commonly used legal expressions. Manuscripts with similarity above this level may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected, depending on the nature and seriousness of the overlap.

Forms of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, copying text without quotation or citation, paraphrasing another author's ideas without proper acknowledgment, using data, arguments, legal analysis, tables, or figures without attribution, submitting another person's work as one's own, and reusing substantial parts of the author's own previously published work without citation or disclosure.

Editorial Action

If potential plagiarism is detected, the editorial team will evaluate the similarity report and the manuscript content carefully. Minor overlap may require revision, correction, or improved citation. Serious plagiarism, duplicate submission, fabricated authorship, or intentional academic misconduct may result in immediate rejection of the manuscript.

After Publication

If plagiarism or serious publication misconduct is discovered after publication, SETARA: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with publication ethics standards. The editorial team may also notify the author's institution or relevant parties when necessary.

Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and ethical integrity of their manuscripts. By submitting a manuscript to SETARA: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum, authors confirm that the work is original, properly referenced, and complies with the journal's publication ethics and plagiarism policy.
